Still hopeful, regardless.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————

So after my post last night, I ended up having another granola bar, a couple cookies and some chocolate. It wasn’t an intense binge, but it was bad nonetheless. However, I am still hopeful and once again, it is a new day.

Breakfast

  • 1 fat-free strawberry yogurt cup
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal
  • 1 tbsp raw almond butter

This ended up being a very filling breakfast that more than fuelled me through my trip to the gym. Yes – I made it to the gym! Since I’ve taken a few weeks off it was pretty brutal and I did a less intense workout than usual.

  • 15 minutes fat-burning intervals on the elliptical trainer
  • arm exercises: shoulder press, chest press, chest fly, tricep extension, tricep kickbacks, bicep curls
  • 200 sit-ups: regular and side sit-ups
  • leg lifts
  • 15 minutes high-intensity intervals on the treadmill
  • stretches

This will probably be my regular workout. I hope to gradually increase the cardio. I was a bit shocked how taking time off really affected my fitness level. I expected it to be a bit rough, but I felt quite out of shape. I was disappointed in myself for not pushing as hard as usual, but as I was showering I noticed how sore my muscles were. And the stairs are a bit rough too. So that’s bad and good; bad because it means I was pretty out of shape, good because it at least means I did push myself. Anyway, I probably won’t be so detailed about my workout in the future, but I thought I should record where I start so I can see my progress.

I also plan to weigh myself tomorrow morning, which is a bit frightening to me! But I want to keep track of that as well.

So my breakfast did a great job holding me over. I meant to pack along a granola bar to munch on afterward while I ran my errands, but I totally forgot. I made it through my groceries and picked up my first ever Larabar (!) for a snack.

poppin' my Larabar cherry

It was very filling and yummy. I broke the no-cashew rule, but that’s because I only bought one so it didn’t leave opportunity for overboarding. I would definitely try more Larabars in a similar situation, but I’m not sure I could keep them in the house. I didn’t bring my camera along, but I saved the wrapper for a picture!

A. is going to be here in less than two hours! Unless his bus isn’t running on time of course. I am so excited. We decided to wait and have dinner together, meaning we’ll probably eat around nine. So instead of having one big lunch and a small snack, I split my afternoon eating into two bigger than usual snacks. Number one was the Larabar, and number two was…

Snack

  • 1 mini La Tortilla Factory whole wheat wrap stuffed with: 1/2 can tuna mixed with 1/2 tbsp lite cucumber dressing, 1/2 tsp honey mustard, cucumber, onion and red pepper; ~ 2 grape tomatoes; 3 kalamata olives
  • 1/4 of a GIANT Granny Smith apple

I might have one more tiny snack before dinner, but right now I’m just enjoying some black coffee and feel fine for now. But I must finish cleaning and getting ready for A’s arrival. I’m so excited; it’ll definitely be nice to get a hug!
